Sermon Notes

Revelation 2:1-7

Jesus commended the church in Ephesus for their hard work, perseverance, biblical discernment, and refusal to tolerate false teaching. He rebuked them for leaving their first love, their devotion and affection for Him. A church can be busy serving, doctrinally sound, and morally faithful while still drifting from a close, joyful relationship with Christ. Jesus calls His people to remember where they have fallen, repent, return to the practices that first stirred their love for Him, and promises eternal fellowship with Him to those who overcome.

Practical Takeaways:

  • Guard your relationship with Jesus by prioritizing time in His Word, prayer, worship, and remembering the joy and gratitude you had when you first came to know Him. Don’t let ministry or responsibilities replace intimacy with Christ.
  • Stand firmly for Biblical truth while loving people, hating sin without hating sinners, and allowing your love for Jesus to be the motivation behind everything you do.

Contender’s Gym Part 1

Faith is not an issue of the mind, it is an issue of the heart(Psalm 95, Hebrews 3). Scripture warns believers not to harden their hearts, to avoid relying on past spiritual victories, and to faithfully proclaim the gospel in love, as defined by God rather than by culture.
