Sermon Notes

Psalm 139:13-24

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made (Psalm 139:13–16)
God Himself formed our bodies and souls, knitting us together in the womb with care and intention. We are not accidents but image-bearers with intrinsic value, and every day of our lives was written in His book before we were born.

Set Apart and Deeply Known (Psalm 139:14–18)
To be wonderfully made also means to be set apart for God’s purposes. His thoughts toward His children are countless and precious, meant to dismantle lies, insecurity, and shame so we see ourselves through His design, not the world’s labels.

Search Me and Lead Me (Psalm 139:19–24)
David not only longs for evil to be judged but asks God to search his own heart first. Pastor Joe calls believers to invite God to expose sin and anxious thoughts so He can lead them in the everlasting way of obedience and trust.

Practical Takeaways:

  • Receive your identity as someone intentionally designed by God.

  • Let God’s loving thoughts toward you confront insecurity and self-contempt.

  • Remember that human life is sacred from conception onward.

  • Regularly pray, “Search me, O God,” and respond to what He reveals.
