Joel 1

A Catastrophic Alarm (Joel 1:1–7)

A devastating locust plague sweeps through the land; the physical devastation reflected a deeper spiritual reality. God was sounding an alarm.

A Message for Generations (Joel 1:2–4)

Spiritual leadership begins in the home. The older generation must speak the truth. The younger generation must be willing to listen.

Wake Up from Spiritual Intoxication (Joel 1:5–12)

God sometimes removes the very things we lean on so we are forced to look up. What feels like loss may actually be mercy.

A Call to Repentance (Joel 1:13–20)

God disciplines not to crush, but to bring hearts back to Himself. 

Practical Takeaways

  • Spiritual dryness is often a warning sign.

  • Outward religion cannot replace a surrendered heart.

  • God may remove false comforts to restore true life.

  • When joy fades, examine your connection to the Vine.

  • Cry out to the Lord: He hears and responds.
