Sermon Notes

Philippians 4:14–23

Giving Is Not Charity- It Is Partnership

Giving is gospel partnership. It is sharing in the most important mission in the world-the work of the gospel. When the Philippians came to Christ, their hearts and lives were changed, and they wanted to be part of Christ’s work through giving. A changed life produces changed values.

Giving Is a Spiritual Investment

Where is your treasure? Life is not about accumulating things but investing in what matters most. Giving does not bring salvation, it is an investment in the kingdom of God, which brings an eternal reward.

Giving Is an Act of Worship

When we give a portion of what God has given us, we acknowledge that everything we have is a gift from Him and we honor Him in worship.

Practical Takeaways

  • View giving not as charity, but as active partnership in God’s gospel work, sharing in both the burdens and the fruit of ministry.

  • Let the gospel genuinely reshape your values, recognizing that transformed hearts naturally lead to generosity and joy.

  • Invest your time, talents, and resources in what has eternal impact rather than focusing on temporary, earthly gain.

  • Practice generosity as an act of worship, offering to God what costs you something in faith and gratitude.

  • Trust God’s promise to faithfully supply your needs as you live content in Christ while remaining engaged in His mission.
